Amazing competition! Win a life-time subscription to one of my favourites – Eat Your Books!

I’m the first to admit that I’m a little fond of cookbooks.  And food magazines.  And possibly food websites. Oh, and food blogs, too.  Okay, so I might just have a teensy, tiny bit of a preoccupation with anything to do with food.  But I know I’m not the only cookbook junkie out there and I’m also willing to bet there are more than a few of you who struggle to get the most out of the shelves of cookbooks and piles of magazines dotted around your house.  It’s one thing to just know you have a recipe for the specific dish you have in mind – finding it can be another thing altogether.   Well, read on dear fellow collector, as I’m about to change the way you use your cookbooks and magazines forever!

A couple of years ago I happened across the most wonderful website called Eat Your Books which has given my own personal stash of cookbooks an entirely new life.  At Eat Your Books they don’t publish recipes, they index the ones you already have in your own books – how good is that?!  All you need to do is to register – you can have a free membership with up to 5 books or choose a monthly ($2.50) or annual ($25) paid membership.  You then go on to build your own virtual bookshelf, adding books from Eat Your Books’ library.  When you need to find a recipe all you need to do is to select “My Bookshelf”, type in the keywords you are looking for (either a few ingredients or the name of the recipe) and the search engine will show you which books have the information you are looking for and what page it is on.  Not content with just indexing cookbooks, the splendid folk at Eat Your Books now have indexes for food magazines and food blogs and also have a handy little tool so that you can add recipes from any website onto your own bookshelf too, making finding that elusive recipe easier than ever.

Those same splendid folk have given me a lifetime subscription to Eat Your Books to give away to one lucky reader.  To enter all you need to do is to place a comment below naming your favourite cookbook and your most oft-cooked dish from it AND do at least one or all of the following for extra chances to win –

I think it almost impossible to pick a favorite cookbook out of the over 100 I have, but Love The Food you Crave by Ellie Krieger and one of my go to recipes in that book is the Roasted Salmon with Shallot-Grapefruit Sauce. It is so easy but nice enough for company even on a weeknight. I also liked Eat your books ,and Lamb’s ear and Honey on Facebook
