Greeting friends, from chic Milano! We have been most unstylish in this stylish city for just a few days and leave tomorrow for the reputedly gorgeous Como region – but more of that another time. This morning found me in mild hysterics, sobbing over the keyboard and beseeching this blog to load – all to no avail; the page remained stubbornly, heartbreaking blank. Never having been one to take these little set-backs in a laid back fashion, I wept, raged, rent my clothing and hyperventilated. When none of that changed the situation I contacted my server who informed me that an up-grade (about which I had been informed) meant air-silence for me for 2-4 hours. I decided that I could probably cope with that and went out for brunch instead. Voila! When we arrived back in our hotel room, all was as it should be.
To celebrate the successful escape from this close brush with collapse I am launching a little competition – with special thanks to Everten who have supplied a fittingly stylish prize. The loot in question is a set of three Mastrad 100 ml, double walled glasses – ideal for individual desserts or injections of heart-starting espresso coffee. Mastrad is a French company specialising in stylish, functional and high quality kitchen accessories and these glasses – being made of heatproof borosilicate glass which is thicker than easily broken, similar products – exemplify these qualities.

Enjoy Como – it’s on my bucket list !
Oh I know that feeling. I once forgot to renew my domain name and a squatter grabbed it and the wanted to sell it back to mefor more than I could afford. A few tearful phone calls andheeventually gave it back. Sounds like you are having a wonderfulholiday Amamda. xo
Do you find the coffee better back here or over there? My friend I’d a huge coffee snob and swears it’s thousands of times better at home at his local cafe.
Wow, have fun in Como

I do like the sound of these serving glasses. Love that they are hard to break – that’s the sort of glassware we need around here. I gave you a FB like a while ago. Happy travels! xx
I’m planning on a layered dessert for the May Sweet Adventures Blog Hop – Tea Theme. These would be perfect for showing off what I hope withal be also perfect layers of sweet tea dessert-tea(!) goodness…
Oh what beautiful glasses! That coffee looks irresistible in them!
And brunch is always a good remedy for mild hysteria
Thanks for the giggle.
I love the little glasses. Wish I could enjoy them with coffee and chocolate just as in the picture
Bec – I’m a tea girl, so the coffee is a mystery to me. The Husband is a complete coffee addict, though, and he is finding it a little “hit & miss” here in Italy so far. I don’t think many realise just how lucky we are to have such fantastic coffee in Australia – it’s a hard act to follow.
coffee flavoured mousse, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
They look gorgeous Amanda!
Arrgh server problems are such a pain aren’t they! I’m glad you solved the problem!
Perhaps when you run into Clooney visiting his Como lake house you can shoot back some of his Nespresso from your Mastrads!
I’d love to try making a deconstructed chocolate tart to put into these gorgeous little glasses.
I’ve seen loads of verrine recipes so I reckon I’d make use of these glasses to try some out.
I’ve been jonesing for glasses like that for a really long time. Useful and chic!

Heart starters in the a.m. in these glasses would take me back to where you are!
I’d love to serve individual berry tirimisu in them! Yum!!!
Too funny Amanda… I agree, though. IT hiccups can put me into quite a spin too!
