Where We Discover Scotland – First Stop Skye

The Outer Hebrides are an outrageously long way from Adelaide, and our first stop on the journey to discover Scotland is the historic island of Skye.

The Bloke and I are big music fans, especially of international folk and roots music. Last year friends of ours attended HebCelt, a Scottish celtic folk music festival in the Outer Hebrides so this year we tagged along when they went again, to discover Scotland and it’s music for ourselves.

It’s been a bit of a milestone birthday year in our house with our youngest turning 21 and The Bloke and I both celebrating ‘significant’ birthdays. The Bloke was first cab off the ranks for major life landmarks, so we celebrated still being alive by heading to New Zealand for a three day walk on a Wilsons Abel Tasman National Park walk.

Tucked into a cosy nest, dog sledding is the most exhilarating way to experience the Canadian winter countryside at Sun Peaks Resort.

The recent cold, grim weather at home has reminded me that this is not the first winter I’ve experienced this year and also that the first one, at Sun Peaks Resort in Canada, was hugely enjoyable.
