Hill of Grace Restaurant Launch

08/09/2014 | By

There’s no doubt about it – there are some days when I feel that perhaps the gods are smiling on me. Certainly, the day I opened the post and found my invitation to the launch of Adelaide’s Hill of Grace Restaurant was one of those days.

The Salopian Inn – Giving Gin Palaces a Good Name!

11/07/2014 | By

When once asked about her longevity, that splendid woman Julia Child attributed it to “red meat and gin”. When it came to gastronomy old Julia wasn’t wrong about much and I’m happy to take my guidance from her in these things, particularly in the case of a good drop of gin.

Manila Eats – Dining Filipino Style

14/04/2014 | By

My recent visit to Manila was short, but sweet. Sweet because the fondness for sugar over there is incredible, but also because – even during my very short visit – I got to eat often and really well. If you’re headed to Manila and are looking for dining tips, start here!

Win an Australia Post Legends of Cooking Gift Pack

03/02/2014 | By

For a brief period in my childhood, and with the encouragement of my mother, I collected stamps. I’m not sure if children still do that these days and I know mine certainly have shown no interest in philately at all, but it kept me quiet and was a cheap hobby as family and friends were happy to save their stamps for me. OzHarvest, Adelaide’s Cellar Door Wine Festival and Cooking For a Cause

29/11/2013 | By

OzHarvest

A few weeks back I boasted about modestly mentioned my appointment as a Social Media Ambassador for my much-loved Cellar Door Wine Festival. I’ve been a supporter of the festival since it began and am thrilled with how it has grown and developed, winning a series of awards for festivals of it’s type. It will be back next year, even bigger this time round and the State Government is again partnering with the Adelaide Cellar Door Wine Festival to include a ‘New Producers’ Area’. This will give up to 10 small food producers the chance to promote their brand and products, while several of last years New Producers will have their own stands in 2014. With the growing focus on food as part of this event, the festival continues it’s relationship with OzHarvest Adelaide, having now donated over 80,000 meals.

Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula – How Did I Miss This?

25/11/2013 | By

Sunny Ridge Farm, Mornington Peninsula

I’m a frequent visitor to Melbourne. I used to live there and enjoy catching up with old friends when I can, all of whom live north of the river, so my trips south of the Yarra are infrequent. All that changed a few weeks back when I spent a few days on the Mornington Peninsula – leaving me wondering why I didn’t know about this glorious food basket. While the food scene in Melbourne is wonderful, it is well worth the short drive down the expressway to the lush, rolling paddocks and orchards and breathtaking coastline of this region. They have a wealth of goodies there to tempt you.
