Yes my friends, I don’t know where this year has gone, but it’s almost time for one of the most fantastic celebrations of all things cheese once again! A few weeks back I was in Bra, in Italy, for the Slow Food Cheese 2015 event (more about that to come) and while Adelaide’s Cheesefest is obviously nowhere near so large, I have to say that it compares very favourably in content quality – we really are very lucky to have such an amazing event right here at home.

2014 Cheesefest

This year the nation’s biggest cheese festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary by extending the event to include its first Friday evening session. According to Cheesefest 2015 Director Kris Lloyd, the festival continues to gain momentum. “This was a concept that started on a dinner napkin and it has evolved into a much-loved festival that brings so many people together to celebrate cheese,” Ms Lloyd said. In 2005 we had just 800 people. Last year, there was a record crowd of 20,000. This year, for the first time, it will begin on a Friday night and will continue over the weekend. Not only is it a good way to celebrate our 10th anniversary but also provides people with an opportunity to celebrate the end of the working week. For those who purchase a weekend pass the Friday night session will be free, so it provides a good cost effective way to enjoy the festival.”

    Kris Lloyd – Kris Lloyd Artisan Range ‘Goat and Cow’ Persian Feta would have to be my favourite. The texture, the flavour balance, i love everything this cheese has to offer. It is perfect on its own, tossed in a salad, through some pasta with some cherry truss tomatoes or on a bruschetta with fresh basil. I just can’t get enough of this cheese

    It may not be cheese but La Vera’s Adel-Blue cheese spread is the bomb! Could eat it all day on crackers or toast. If it has to be a cheese it would be Udder Delights Triple Cream Brie – creamy and delicious, everything a Brie should be!
