In a world first, I go live with “A Brie(f) History of Cheese” at Adelaide’s Cheesefest Gather & Graze, October 23-24, 2021!

Great news guys, Cheesefest Gather & Graze – the South Australian celebration of all things cheese and fermentation, is scheduled to re-appear this year on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October 2021, at Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka in Adelaide.

I’ve been a keen supporter of this great South Australian food event since it’s early days, but for Cheesefest 2021 my involvement is to be a little more direct. Along with Masterchef legend Gary Mehigan, I will be presenting “A Brie(f) History of Cheese” – a very exclusive, pre-entry cheese tasting and brief rundown of the history of cheese.

So, cheese – we all love it, but this is your chance to find out where it really came from – and I’m not talking cheese shops. In this limited-ticket, pre-entry cheese tasting event I’ll share some of the knowledge about cheese that I’ve been stuffing into my head for years now. 🤣

If you want to know a little more about the history of cheese – how it came about, which cheese styles came first,  how cheese evolved around the world, how this fabulous and utterly ancient food diversified and changed, then you’re really going to want to join me and Gary Mehigan on a fascinating trip down memory lane at “A Brie(f) History of Cheese” at Cheesefest Gather & Graze 2021.

Learn about the first cheeses known – beginning with why they came about and and how they were produced, how varying cheese styles became localised in different regions of the world, right through to the development of the more sophisticated styles we all enjoy on our platters today. And of course you’ll be tasting some of the best available examples of each kind. This is a great opportunity to broaden your personal cheese palate too, by discovering varieties related to those we will be discussing and tasting.
