We’ll be cooking from Iran to Italy this month in the cookbook club – and October’s selection comes with a FREE gift for every Lambs’ Ears Cookbook club member!
Lots of the cookbook club members were happy to take a trip down memory lane with the Australian community cookbooks in the August cookbook selection, but September will take us much further afield as we explore flavours from Iran to Italy.
Pomegranates and Articholes, September’s cookbook selection, is a gorgeous, deeply personal look at the culinary traditions of author Saghar Setareh’s homelands, both original and adopted. Featuring food from Iran to Italy, this book is part memoir, part food history and always delicious. This cookbook explores migration – “of ingredients, of recipes and of stories – but most importantly of people who make them.” From the lushness of Iranian breakfast dishes like date and onion frittata and a sweet saffron omelette, to Italian aperitivo snacks like crostini with lardo, or oranges with anchovies, there’s going to be something to tempt all of us in this book.
So – What did we cook in August?
The homely, comfort food recipes explored in Liz Harfull’s “Tried, Tested, and True” really hit a note with so many Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club members in August. Lots of us remembered these modest, but generous community fundraising efforts, some still have a few of them in their collections, and we all enjoyed the stories behind them. Here’s just a few of the images our members shared – check out more over on our Facebook page.
What’s our new cookbook selection for October?
I’m super-excited about October in the cookbook club – we will be exploring the food of Provence in France with Sydney-based cookbook and food writer Roberta Muir of Be Inspired. In a collaboration with Lambsears Cookbook Club she is offering every member a FREE copy of her Month in Provence eMagazine which contains everything you’ll need to join in.
To access this free offer, head to the link here and enter the code “Lambs Ears” in the coupon code space – too easy!
Roberta has written or co-written 4 cookbooks – a Lombardian cookbook with chef Alessandro Pavoni, a Sardinian cookbook with chef Giovanni Pilu, Sydney Seafood School Cookbook, and Wild Weed Pie with chef Janni Kyritsis. She ran Australia’s largest recreational cooking school (Sydney Seafood School at Sydney Fish Market) for 23 years and says that her mission has always been “to make it easy for home cooks to explore new cuisines and ingredients.”
Since mid-2021 she’s expanded her offering beyond seafood through a series of online cooking classes under the Be Inspired banner. Each month Roberta focuses on a new cuisine – often in collaboration with a leading chef or producer – with detailed written recipes and step-by-step videos packaged in a colourful eMagazine packed with extra food, wine and travel info relevant to that cuisine. Each month contains recipes and videos for 2 starters, 4 mains courses with side dishes, and 2 desserts, plus pescatarian-friendly alternatives for all red meat and poultry recipes and extra ‘essentials’ recipes.
I’ve been impressed with the incredibly high standard product that she is offering each month. Fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to explore several cuisines in them and they contain an astonishing amount of top quality tips, information and resources. I think it’s going to be a great month of cooking!
