QuietOn Noise Cancelling Earbuds – Not Just For Travellers

19/06/2020 by Amanda

Lock-down living with everyone around all the time, makes finding the focus to work from home tricky. Excellent for long haul flights, QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds also shut the world off at home, creating instant quiet space for work – or sleep.

noise cancelling earbuds

From time to time I get offered products to review. Many of them don’t really fit for me so I politely refuse, but the offer to try QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds was very timely because, despite the fact that none of us are travelling at the moment, there are loads of reasons right now for us to be in need of a little ‘Nordic quietude’.

Anyone who has spent any time on a long haul flight will know how intrusive the drone of those enormous jet engines is, and just how important some good noise cancelling technology can be. However, it’s not just on a plane that we need to find some quiet space.

For the last little while, and for a little longer for lots of us, we’ve been stuck at home in close quarters. For some that will mean trying to work while surrounded by ambient noise levels well above those we are accustomed to in a normal office setting. Small children, noisy teenagers, thoughtlessly loud neighbours, and general traffic noises all impact on our ability to focus and concentrate on the job at hand.

Others struggle to find the quiet needed for a good night’s sleep. This can also be due to any of the intrusions listed above, or the compromised sinuses of our very nearest and most dearest – not that I’m thinking of anyone in particular, of course. 🙂

And here’s where these clever noise cancelling earbuds from QuietOn really come into their own.

Discretely tiny and designed for wearer comfort, they effectively cancel out low frequency noises like snoring, engine noises or noise coming through walls. Unlike other noise-masking devices which generally use a form of white noise, QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds actively create a phase-shifted sound to cancel the original intrusive sound, resulting in blissful quiet.

For use when reading, working or trying to concentrate, the design includes a very clever little button that easily switches between silencing and hearing modes – meaning that you can be ‘in the zone’, but quickly in communication too.

These are the smallest active noise cancelling device currently on the market – so this means that, unlike other bulkier noise cancelling devices, they can very comfortably be worn in bed. They also come with three different sized, very soft, memory foam tips, for a precise custom fit.

Being a side-sleeper, I was concerned about the comfort aspect, needlessly as it turns out – they are so small as to be unnoticeable while sleeping on my side. I can never sleep properly on a long haul flight, and while it’s going to be a while before I face one of those, I’m confident that these little babies are going to totally fix that.

I’ve worn my QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds around the house and in bed and have been totally amazed at the peaceful effect they produce at the click of the little button. It’s a wee bit like switching the world off – and I’ll bet I’m not the only one who has wanted to do that lately.

Developed in Finland, using clever Nordic design, QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds are available online (and were delivered remarkably quickly). Check out their website here.

Lambs’ Ears was sent a complimentary pair of QuietOn noise cancelling earbuds to review.

Yes – I mention this in my post. I’m a side sleeper and these are totally comfortable.
