Win a Package for Cheesefest 2014

17/10/2014 | By

Well, it’s one of my favourite times of the year again and Cheesefest 2014 is just around the corner. This fabulous gathering of cheese, especially South Australian cheese, is now in it’s ninth year and, with the tirelessly dynamic and passionate Woodside Cheese Wrights Kris Lloyd at the helm, it is evolving into an ever more sophisticated South Australian  food celebration.

This year there will be 20 cheese makers showcasing their wares, along with local wine makers and brewers. The hugely successful Cheese Train from last year will be making a comeback, this year sponsored by King Island Dairy, and offering a selection of premium cheeses exclusive to the train, accompanied by a glass of wine (or beer or soft drink) and some delicious local treats.  South Australia’s Foodland will be sponsoring the wonderful Mozzarella Bar where La Casa del Formaggio will be stretching mozzarella on site which can then be purchased, along with San Jose prosciutto, South Australian tomatoes with basil, Coriole olive oil and Flinders Street Project fresh-baked grissini.

The exclusive, six course Degustation Lunch has been sold out for both days, but you won’t go hungry as some of Adelaide’s finest restaurants and chefs will be featured on the day. The impressive list of local eateries represented include Jock Zonfrillo’s Street, Nigel Rich’s Elbow Room, Stewart Wesson’s Flinders St Project and Brendan Bell from The Kings Head Hotel, plus many others.

If grazing is more your style then Tuckers Natural Picnic Trail is definitely for you. Grab a picnic trail pack from Tuckers stand, which contains –
A premium carry picnic rug
Cheeseboard and serving implements
2 x 110g packets of Tucker’s Natural gourmet crackers (choice of 4 flavours)
1 x 50g tub of Tucker’s Natural Fruit Paste (choice of 2 flavours)
2 x $10 Cheesefest tokens, to be redeemed at any cheese maker’s stall for product(s)
Tucker’s Natural large carry bag
Make your way around to the cheese makers to select your favourites, then find a spot in front of Tuckers Natural Main Stage and enjoy a luxurious picnic with live entertainment. A little bird told me that the Tuckers Natural Picnic Trail may also have some extra Woodside Cheese Wrights vouchers in it, making it even more fantastic value.

Aside from just eating (although there’s nothing wrong with that!) there will be lots more to do at Cheesefest 2014. Sprout will be holding small group cooking classes with numbers limited to about 16, you can have a chance to sit down and meet your favourite cheese maker in sessions over both days, sponsors Dairy Australia are providing a fun photo booth and there will be a silent auction where you can bid on the gorgeous, hand-painted cows which have attracted so much attention.

These fabulous beasts have been seen around town over the last month or two and can soon be seen around your place if you make the winning bid! I have the real thing at home, but these would make a very striking garden ornament – they are so much more colorful than my Black Angus boys and won’t eat my garden or leave big steaming messages all over the place.

Now here’s the exciting bit for you, dear reader. I have TWO fabulous Cheesefest 2014 packages to give away. They each consist of a double pass for Cheesefest PLUS one Tuckers Natural Picnic Trail Pack!
