Win Tickets to Gorgeous – South Australia’s Fab Fleurieu Festival!!

07/09/2012 | By

Life got pretty hysterical for me late last year.  Over the course of several weeks I dealt with one daughter’s 21st birthday party, getting the other daughter organised and posted off to Vancouver for a student exchange (and I really can’t tell you how much of a help Alan Joyce’s decision to ground his air fleet with no warning was, when we were trying to get her to Sydney for her connecting flight), getting my son through his year 12 examinations, scary dental surgery, my mother’s 80th birthday party, with the accompanying influx of international and interstate-based family,  and Christmas.  In fact, looking back, I’m surprised I didn’t develop a drinking problem.

But clearly the mind is a remarkable thing and all those stresses and stressors had slipped out of mine (along with several people’s names, where I hid the spare house key and where I put the whisk attachment for my electric mixer) over the course of the year.  So much so, in fact, that when the news of the upcoming second Gorgeous Festival was brought to my attention I was totally confused as to why we hadn’t attended the first one as it is exactly the kind of event that The Husband and I live for.

Gorgeous Festival is an annual boutique music/food/wine festival and an experience and celebration of the abundance of the Fleurieu Peninsula region of South Australia.  Being held this year on November 24th in McLaren Vale, the promoters of Gorgeous have worked hard ensure that the focus is on a premium experience in every aspect of the festival.  Last years musical line-up was a stunner, featuring heritage Australian act Icehouse, and this years builds on that with the return to the stage of the popular Missy Higgins, Deadly Award-winning Dan Sultan and emerging artists Gosling, the Preatures and local act Butterfly Boucher.

I love a great band, but food- especially premium, regional, South Australian food – is really what I’m all about so I’m thrilled to let you know the festival will particularly appeal to those who appreciate the taste of fresh, locally grown produce, as food and wine will take center stage.   Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy premium wines from this acclaimed wine region and select from a delicious food menu featuring signature dishes from local McLaren Vale restaurants such as The Currant Shed, The Victory Hotel, Blessed Cheese, Fino and d’Arrys Verandah.  Each restaurant will present a dish for which it has become noted, so look out for Fino’s remarkable home-made chorizo or d’Arry’s very special signature lobster crab ravioli, then pair them with a glass of varietal wine presented by one of the nine local premium wineries, including d’Arenberg, Wirra Wirra and Yangarra Estate Vineyard among others, who will be serving up a wine list to challenge your palate.

Events during the day will include the judging of the Gorgeous Art Prize, the launch of the new children’s space & award winning chef demonstrations!  With the bands performing on two separate stages during the course of the afternoon and evening, accompanied by beautiful local food, world class wines and stunning scenery, Gorgeous Festival is the perfect Saturday out in November.  I’m making sure not miss out this year and thanks to the Gorgeous Festival organisers I can offer you the chance to be there too.  The lovely people behind the scenes have offered me two double passes valued at $176 each to give away to two of my lucky readers.  To enter, just follow the instructions below, but please don’t enter unless you will be available to attend the festival on November 24 2012.
