Wish You Were Here Postcards – My Backyard

I’m very lucky, as I get the opportunity to travel quite a lot. I love taking off for exciting new destinations and discovering new sights and new tastes to fall in love with. However, there really is no place like home so I thought I’d show you a glimpse of what it is I leave each time I take off and what I love to get back home to. This is the view from the end of my driveway, basically in my backyard in the Adelaide Hills. (The worn patch in the foreground is where our intellectually challenged Border collie likes to sit and watch the world go by.) So – I guess that makes me doubly lucky, doesn’t it?

Since moving my backyard is a patch of dirt and some rocks but my view is the house behind me. I mean I knew I was downsizing and wanted less work; this yard is probably a sixth the size of the one I left…but there are days I know I am going to sorely miss my garden.

Your view is amazing; I’m assuaged by the fact that mere blocks from here I can see the Rocky Mountains and if I get too verklempt about the tiny yard I’ll just take a quick drive!

I would happily sit there and watch that view too. You ARE lucky!

Wow, that is absolutely stunning. What a treat being able to call that view yours. πŸ™‚ What’s it like in the winter? All frosted over…. is it like a sparkly heaven? Happy Thursday and rest of week to you. πŸ™‚

Your backyard’s a bit bigger than mine, Amanda. The Adelaide hills are gorgeous. My sister was out from LA a few weeks ago and had to go to the Barossa on business for Jacobs Creek Wines. She just loved it – so pretty xx
