Spiced Oranges

A sweet finish to a meal doesn't get much easier than this fragrant dish, and it can be prepared well ahead of time!

  • 8 oranges
  • 2 cups orange juice, fresh squeezed
  • 2 oranges, zest only
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp ras el hanout
  • 1 tsp rosewater


  • Peel the 8 oranges, making sure to remove all the bitter white pith. Slice thickly and arrange on serving dish.
  • Put all other ingredients, except the rosewater, into a saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Boil for 5-10 minutes to reduce and thicken the syrup.
  • When thickened, remove from heat and add the rosewater.
  • Set aside to cool. When cooled, pour over the oranges. Serve at room temperature.
