Hello Cookbook Junkies – Here’s November’s Cookbook Club Selection

29/09/2021 by Amanda

Spring has sprung – Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club cookbook junkies will take a deep dive into a great new book, and tee up another for November.

Every Night O The Week - September in the cookbook club

October’s Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club selection.

Dearest cookbook junkies, the year is now whooshing past us at break-neck speed. Don’t forget – the October selection is Lucy Tweed’s Every.Night.Of.The.Week., and now it’s time for the November selection for the Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club.I’m very excited about the October cookbook junkies selection. Lucy Tweed’s cookbook tormented me with so many tempting dishes while I was on a restricted diet, but I’ll be going in boots and all now that is all behind me!

I’ve chosen our November cookbook junkies selection with the Australian change of seasons in mind. In Good Company is by Sophie Hansen and is her second book (the first was A Basket by The Door), which I reviewed in these pages back in July. Sophie lives with her family on a farm in country NSW. She has built a wonderful community of home cooks via Local Lovely, the blog she began in 2013.

“In Good Company” is a celebration of conviviality and will give you heaps of inspiration for gatherings. It was born of shared country tables – in kitchens, in gardens, and out in paddocks – and with the finer weather finally upon us, this book will provide heaps of motivation for you to get out the picnic blanket and share some joyous times with loved ones and simple, fresh food.

Lots of you gave Nigella a good try in September and I think we all agreed that, while her book How To Eat still holds up since publication over 20 years ago, most of us are past the level of cooking offered here. I’d absolutely give it to a young person fresh out of the family nest, or anyone who needs to gain a little more confidence in the kitchen, but for the experienced cook it was a little simplistic and unadventurous.

Don’t forget we have a year long selection, Alice Zaslavsky’s In Praise of Veg  for you to cook from, and you can share your pictures from any of the previous cookbook selections on ‘Throw-back Thursdays’.

September – How To Eat
August – Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat
July – To Asia, With Love
June – Parwana
May – The Slow Cook
April – Mix & Bake
March – Simple

And PLEASE don’t forget to share your pictures on both the Facebook group and on your own Instagram profile, using the hashtag #lambsearscookbookclub for the latter.

YOU CAN BUY ANY OF THESE COOKBOOKS AT ALL GOOD BOOKSHOPS, OR ONLINE AT BOOKTOPIA USING THE LINKS IN THIS POST. (IF PURCHASED VIA THESE LINKS, YOU WILL GET A GREAT PRICE AND I WILL RECEIVE A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE COST.)
