Wish You Were Here Postcards – Mt Ruapehu, New Zealand

05/02/2014 by Amanda

A few years ago my sister and her Kiwi husband moved to Auckland, New Zealand, giving me the perfect excuse to visit an absolutely stunning country that had not previously made it on to my itinerary. We took our two youngest and, rather than live up to the old adage from Benjamin Franklin that “guests and fish begin to smell after three days”, we split up our invasion of her house by taking the kids skiing for a few days. We drove down to Mt. Ruahepu, a ski resort which is actually an active volcano just south of Lake Taupo. The scenery was just breathtaking and, as we approached the resort area I had to stop and get this shot of the big sky and snowy peaks. If you haven’t been to New Zealand yet I suggest you put it on your list – it is glorious.

I agree with you because I have been there and I have skied Mount Ruapehu. It’s so beautiful, isn’t it and we had great snow xx

Did you get any pictures of any people at the bottom of the ski slope wanting to hitch a ride back to the top?
