Wish You Were Here Postcards – The Blue Mosque Istanbul

The Sultan Ahmed Mosque is the correct name of what is popularly known as The Blue Mosque in Istanbul. The mosque has one main dome, six minarets, eight secondary domes and the interior is lined with more than 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles. The interior is lit by over 200 stained glass windows, with extra light supplied by enormous chandeliers suspended from the domes. This magnificent place of worship is overwhelming in scale and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.  It is packed to the gills in the summer season, but not to be missed.
