Attention Adelaide Food Entrepreneurs – Adelaide Central Market Wants You!

27/03/2015 by Amanda

Adelaide Central Market Have you been quietly nursing a food business dream? Are  you keen to get into the food scene in Adelaide but worried about starting out on your own? Do you want to be your own boss, but have the advantage of working with perhaps the most respected food name in Adelaide?  Well – has Adelaide Central Market got an offer for you!

Using a variation on an old adage “if you can’t get to the Market, the Market will come to you”, market management has come up with a fabulous opportunity for food entrepreneurs to develop new businesses to take the Central Market to the people. Do you fancy taking a food truck full of beautiful fresh produce around the city? How about a bicycle lunch delivery business, a recipe of the day full of fresh Adelaide market ingredients for collection/delivery or a Central Market hamper delivery service – the ideas are endless.

The concept behind this project is for entrepreneurs to set up businesses to sell Central Market products to workers who are confined to offices in the city all day.  Adelaide Central Market wants to hear about your Market-related business plan. If you can come up with something that they can work with, they are offering all sorts of support including market data, the possibility of some temporary space and linking you directly with the traders. Adelaide City Council’s Enterprise Adelaide are offering guidance to get you through the red tape and Beyond Bank Australia are offering entrepreneurs the opportunity to apply for $20,000 grants to help establish their new dream.  Adelaide Central Market are even offering to license the use of their prestigious and much-prized brand and logo to successful go-getters.

Of course there is a rider, but it’s one any local foodie would be proud to own – it is simply that all products used in your enterprise MUST be supplied by Adelaide Central Market traders. If you can live with that and have a brilliant idea that you are just bursting to get stuck into, then check out further details here, get it all down on paper and contact the Adelaide Central Market pronto – before someone steals your thunder!

The Adelaide Central Market folks are such forward thinkers as is the South Australian government when it comes to food and wine. My hat’s off to you all!
