February in Australia, and in the Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club, is still all about summer cooking. Read on for the sunniest food inspo!

Crikey, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s February! I barely got used to January and it’s already over, leaving my head spinning. Of course, it’s still peak hot weather here in Australia – February can often be our hottest month – so summer cooking is still what we’re dealing with, and who better to show us the way but Donna Hay and her new cookbook Sunshine, Lemons and Sea Salt. Donna is an icon when it comes to fresh, modern Australian food, and she’s definitely a favourite in the Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club, so who better to guide us through warm weekend brunches, long sunny lunches, and sunset browsing platters.
Our seasonal flavour focus for February

I really couldn’t let the season slip by without choosing a fresh food product that just sings of summer – tomatoes, of course. They are at their best right now, so make the most of them and show us your favourites!
What did January look like?

January was a scorcher here in Oz, and our January cookbook club selection of Salata, a whole cookbook full of fresh, inspiring salad meals by Michael Rantissi and Kristy Frawley definitely made our summer cooking significantly refreshing. Here’s a few images from Lambs’ Ears Cookbook club members. Join us over at our Facebook page to see more.
Salata’s Sugar snap peas with sardines and pesto from Beverley Mercer
All from Salata – Charred broccolini salad with hazelnuts and crispy dill, Jozef’s potato salad and roasted pumpkin salad with yoghurt, lemon & chilli. A great effort from Flossie Jane Olsen

Michael’s classic poached chicken salad, from Salata made a delicious lunch for Patricia Chigwidden

Stunning! Margot Jervies rocks stone fruit with Poached peaches with rosé granita
The cookbook selection for March

One of my very favourite ways to get a meal on the table is anything that is prepared and served in one pot or tray. Way back in 2022 we explored this specific method of cooking in the cookbook club, so I figured it’s time we took another look at it with someone very fresh and popular.
The bubbly and infectiously joyful Poppy Cooks is one of the UK’s most sought after food personalities, and has built a following of over 6 million fans across her social media platforms. Especially popular for her inventive take on potato dishes (be still, my heart) she’s now the author of several bestselling cookbooks. The Actually Delicious One Pot Cookbook is dedicated to sharing the kind of fuss-free, vibrant and delicious one pot, pan or tray dishes that you will return to time and time again. Think hearty oven bakes, curries and stir fries with big bold flavours, and divine pasta dishes.
I just know we are going to have fun in March with this inspiring new cookbook, but for February it’s all about summer cooking with Donna Hay.
