Important news and serious incoming inspiration for the cookbook club – a whole-year cookbook change, and fresh ways with old cookbooks.
Hello to all of my cookbook-addicted friends out there, and to all the members of the Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club – and if you are not yet a member of the cookbook club, why not?!
I had a flash of incoming inspiration the other day about another way we can get more use out of the cookbooks we already own – and I feel bit of a dodo for not thinking of this earlier.
From right now, and for every month of the cookbook club, in addition to the monthly cookbook selection I will also nominate one seasonally appropriate fruit or vegetable for our members to focus on. So, as well as cooking from the nominated cookbook, members can also explore their existing cookbooks for their own incoming inspiration with seasonally abundant produce.
Don’t forget – if you are subscribers to Eat Your Books, then finding all of the recipes you already have that use the monthly nominated produce is going to be even easier (and there is a special offer for Lambs’ Ears Cookbook Club members!).
The first fresh food I’ve decided to focus on is stone-fruit, which is currently peaking here in Australia now. Think peaches, apricots, cherries, nectarines, mangoes – such a gorgeous sweet selection for the whole of January. So have a blast folks – and don’t forget to share all of your favourite stone-fruit dishes in our Facebook group. 🍒
But wait, there’s more – fresh incoming inspiration for our whole-year cookbook selection

In last week’s post I named the cookbooks for January, February, and the whole year of 2026. However, there were some who requested a rethink on the whole-year cookbook selection – a request I was happy to comply with.
I conducted a couple of polls on our Facebook page and the results were clear, with a resounding preference, so without further ado – the new whole-year cookbook for 2026 is to be Nigel Slater’s Kitchen Diaries. Members have the option to cook and share from either the first of his Kitchen Diaries, the second and third of the same, or a combination of all three for the entire year.

I’m thrilled to bits about this because Slater’s writing and food are special favourites of mine. His approach to both recipes and food writing is seasonal, personal, and so simple and accessible. I know you will all love it.
And, conveniently for us all, Nigel Slater will have lots of stone fruit recipes in his delightfully seasonal Kitchen Diaries – so lets get cooking and sharing!
IF YOU HAVEN’T JOINED THE LAMBS EARS COOKBOOK CLUB YET, YOU WILL FIND ALL THE DETAILS HERE.
HERE’S HOW 2026 IS SHAPING UP SO FAR
The whole-year cookbook is The Kitchen Diaries by Nigel Slater
January – Salata by Michael Mantissas and Kristy Frawley
February – Sunshine, Lemons and Sea Salt by Donna Hay
