Join me and The Foodologist talking all things food on the podcast that puts South Australia centre stage – The Adelaide Show.
George Ujvary – The Foodologist, Steve Davis of The Adelaide Show & yours truly all kitted out in food safety gear for our podcast.
My home town, Adelaide, has sometimes been accused of being a little on the quiet side by our brasher neighbours to the east. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is always plenty going on here and one of the ways of keeping in touch with life in this town is via the lively, and sometimes slightly cheeky, podcast called The Adelaide Show.
Last week I was invited to be a guest on the show, along with my friend Dr. George Ujvary, author of Adelaide’s first food blog The Foodologist. We shared our thoughts on all things food – the meaning of gastronomy, how to broaden the scope of limited diets and how to cut food wastage – among others.
We also had an interesting chat on the perplexing rise of the social media “influencer” and how some of those Instagram accounts with seemingly enormous followings may not be all that they seem. I’d love you to check out what I had to say on the topic (and, as you can probably guess, I do have some strong opinions about them) and my not-always-as-glamorous-as-it-seems life as a food/travel blogger.
You can listen to the podcast here.
We weren’t paid to appear on this acclaimed podcast, but I was quite excited to receive this very handsome “The Adelaide Show” pen. Of course, it’s going straight to the pool room.

Wow, what a great experience, and something for the pool room too!
well, that’s a bit exciting! Good on you. PS – I’m in Sydney and I tell anyone who will listen how much better the fresh food scene is in Adelaide than here.
An excellent podcast, thank you for sharing!
I saw your question about the large instagram accounts on one of your socials, I was half way through thumbing out my thoughts on the matter when I ran smack bang into one of the large instagramers in Canberra. I decided to ask her point blank how she got such a large following and in only about 8 months too, she refused to answer the question. Which leads me to believe that the following is not authentic and when you break it down, has no real value. SO soooooo frustrating, because the companies still value the numbers over actual interaction and relationship with following. I love that you say it how it is. 🙂 Great experience Amanda, and you scored a pen too. Nice!!!
The fact that she refused to answer the question tells you all you need to know, Anna. The more we speak out about this and question these accounts, the more likely that their usefulness will eventually be challenged. There’s nothing like a bit of sunshine & fresh air to clean things out.
So nice to hear your voice! I wish people would realize that followers can be paid for. This podcast sounds like it was a lot of fun to do 🙂
Such a great podcast, thank you for sharing it with us
Nice to hear your voice. I will have a proper listen to it when I am back from holidays 😀
